Sadly whilst some of us were cowardly bashing an opposition supporter in front of his 14 year old boy. Some of us, infact many of us, Including opposition supporters joined in the family fun whilst we celebrated a Collingwood Victory. This was the largest Winners Circle in it's entire history. Interesting to observe an official AFL photogrpaher right in the middle taking heaps of photos of Collingwood supporters coming together having a good decent time. Again i say this is the only type of celebration by any AFL fans in Australia. Many people have now realised this is an event that promotes the coming together after any victory. It is done properly and decently and is frequented by the elderly and many many young children and families.
With full co-operation from ground management especially the MCG and security we have been able to keep this thing going. A special thanks to security who stand bye at a discreet distance to ensure drunken thugs dont interupt proceedings. i hope the AFL uses the photographs from yesterdays circle to promote what football is all about and thats everyone coming together in good fun with plenty of passion and song.
Ace and Claire and Young Simon. The above two pics were taken after the winners circle when the pies beat Richmond in the NAB cup @ Etihad Stadium Feb 2009
Easily the greatest winners circle since the 2002/2003 Football Park days. You can never plan these things they just happen, They grow with numbers and passion, It's exciting, a lot of fun, a truly wonderful Collingwood experience. The opposition supporters congregate nearby just to witness it. And it's worth noting we are the only group of supporters who do it. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chant and dance and make this winners circle the greatest of all time.
