Rocca did not come up fit for the game and was replaced by Sharrod Wellingham. What a stunning debut from the 19 year old too!
Paul Medhurst has gone up another notch and is winning the hearts and minds of the Magpie faithful with every game he plays. Paul was every bit a deserving ANZAC Day medalist on Friday and his six goals were a sight to behold. He also took a mark of the week contender in the 3rd at the Punt Road end. We can't go past the efforts of Scott Pendlebury with 29 possesssions at three quarter time and finishing with a massive 33 touches including 11 marks and 7 tackles!
There were plenty of contributors in an outstanding win. It has been a while since the Pies buried a side by over 10 gaols. In fact I recall the last time was Geelong in the middle of 2006.
After a dissappointing fortnight the young Pies came out and put season 2008 right back on track and this should keep the detractors quiet for at least a week.
Joff's crystal ball... Pies to show the class of 2007. Watch out for Josh, Cam and Magic Leon Crystal reckons the Pies by 5 goals

Joff's crystal ball
The Pies will be mean and nasty and looking for revenge come this sunday against the ever underachieving Tigers. Richo will probably crack the shits early in the game over something and render himself useless. The class machine of 2008 will be back on track towards it's Premiership aspirations after last week's highway robbery at the Crappa with a massive win over the Richmond football club at the MCG
Joff's crystal ball suggests that this contest will be a Cakewalk...Pies by 87 Points.

Game news:
Nathan Brown debuts for the Pies
COLLINGWOOD forward Sean Rusling will have scans on Tuesday to determine the extent of the latest in a worrying series of shoulder injuries. The promising 21-year-old, who has had his career stalled by shoulder surgery in each of the past two years, was clearly distraught after leaving the ground holding his left shoulder yesterday. He had his head in his hands while sitting on the bench, after being forced off the ground as a result of heavy hip-and-shoulder from Fremantle defender Antoni Grover late in the first half at the MCG. The Magpies were today unwilling to speculate on the exact nature of the injury, ahead of Tuesday's scans, but given Rusling's history, it is a major concern. He sustained a broken collarbone late in his debut season, 2005, and required shoulder surgery in 2006, managi ng just five senior games that year. Rusling then needed a shoulder reconstruction after another injury in the 2007 pre-season, meaning he did not return until round 20 last year. He has so far racked up just 17 AFL games, with this his fourth season in the AFL.
Joff's crystal ball
Whilst i know nothing about tactics and where some players will line up i know enough to now Collingwood should defeat Fremantle first up at the MCG this saturday. I have tipped Freo to be the big improvers of 2008 and so they should be under coach Mark Harvey. Collingwood are good and with names such as Didak, Wood the first genuine ruckman we've had in decades, Travis Cloke Leon Davis, Thomas, Egan throw in Maxwell Obree and new Captain Burns the Pies have too much class and after a tight first half tussle should go well away from Freo in the second half.Collingwood's list of players in 2008 should see the Pies be super competitive, It's exciting times barring massive injuries should see our club be a genuine contender for this years premiership. But lets remind ourselves it's only round one..many past Premiers have failed the first round hurdle.
